Beyond Norwich

Explore Norfolk's beautiful countryside and unique Broads National Park

Norfolk Coast

Norfolk has some of the best beaches in the country, ranging from the seaside resorts of Great Yarmouth, Cromer and Hunstanton, to Horsey a National Nature Reserve home to the country’s largest seal colony.

You can explore the white sands of Holkam and picture-postcard Wells-next-the-Sea. Take a stroll through the spectacular coastal forest or dip your toe in the sheltered harbour waters. If you want to go crabbing, eat ice-cream and have fun at the arcades, then a visit to Cromer should be at the top of your list.

Stately Homes

There’s a wide range of historic houses and National Trust properties available throughout Norfolk, perfect for a day out or a fun weekend activity.

Norfolk has many fine stately homes and halls to explore including Sandringham Estate - the Royal family's country retreat - with its beautiful royal gardens, streams and woodland walks. You can also roam the awe-inspiring rooms, which are frequently used by the Royal family. Steeped in history & heritage is the spectacular Holkham Hall, the family home of the Earl of Leicester. Blickling Hall is also worth a visit, set in acres of beautiful gardens and woodlands. There’s a wide range of historic houses and National Trust properties available throughout Norfolk perfect for day out or a fun weekend activity.

Norfolk Broads

Norfolk is famous for its man-made broads, nestled between marshland fields, woodlands and picturesque Broadland towns and villages.

The Norfolk broads are the country’s largest wetland. These magical waterways stretch right up to UEA’s doorstep – making us the only city in the UK to be inside a National Park. It’s easy to hire a boat and sail with friends to beautiful pubs and villages by the water’s edge.

Festivals

Norfolk is a great place to experience a festival while you're at uni.

There’s Latitude, the big one! East Anglia’s very own world-renowned festival famous for big-name bands and indie acts. There’s also the Sundown Festival, which provides the perfect chance to soak up the last of the summer sun and round off the festival season in style. It’s more pop focused than other festivals, attracting mainly big name chart acts and top DJs. There are other exciting events taking place throughout the year including Norwich Pride - a parade and party in the city - and the Norfolk and Norwich Festival - an international arts festival that takes over the city.
