INTO UEA is a partnership between INTO and the University of East Anglia.

The on-campus centre offers academic preparation courses and English language programmes designed specifically for international students.

The courses listed below help prepare students for entry to university in the UK and prepare students for living and studying in a university environment:

  • The International Foundation prepares students to progress into into a range of undergraduate programmes.
  • Our International Year One programme runs in parallel to the first year of a UEA degree. Successful completion leads to entry into Year Two.
  • The Graduate Diploma is the perfect preparation for pre-masters students. It provides a direct route onto a wide variety of Masters degree courses at UEA.
  • Pre-Sessional English is designed for students who hold an offer from the UEA but need to improve their English language ability before starting an undergraduate or postgraduate course here.

 UK Academic Programmes at INTO UEA 

The International Foundation programme is designed to enhance your English language abilities alongside essential research and study skills, and guarantees progression onto year 1 of your chosen undergraduate degree at the University of East Anglia. The International Foundation Programme has 5 pathways:

The International Foundation combines academic study, intensive English language preparation, university study skills and cultural orientation.

If you successfully complete the International Foundation programme and meet the specified course requirements, you are guaranteed progression onto your chosen undergraduate degree programme at UEA. UEA’s Progressions Officer, based at INTO UEA will support INTO students with their applications to their desired programme.

The International Year One is available for students who do not meet the entry requirements for an undergraduate degree. It will develop your language and academic abilities, and provides a direct pathway into year 2 of an undergraduate degree. The International Year One is equivalent to studying year 1 of a UK undergraduate degree programme and has 5 pathways:

The International Year One is a full-time academic programme that helps students to improve their English language skill, increase their knowledge of academic theory and to develop the necessary study and research skills for undergraduate study.

If you successfully complete the International Year One programme and meet the specified course requirements, you are guaranteed progression onto your chosen undergraduate degree programme at UEA. UEA’s Progressions Officer, based at INTO UEA will support INTO students with their applications to their desired programme.

The International Graduate Diploma provides international students who do not qualify for direct entry to university with a pathway onto a wide range of postgraduate degrees within the Norwich Business School, School of Economics, School of Global Development, School of Political, Social and International Studies and the School of World Art Studies and Museology at the University of East Anglia. The International Graduate Diploma offers the following pathway:

The International Graduate Diploma offers an advanced level of English language and academic skills development for postgraduate students looking to start on a master's course at the University of East Anglia.

If you successfully complete the International Graduate Diploma programme and meet the specified course requirements, you are guaranteed progression onto your chosen undergraduate degree programme at UEA. UEA’s Progressions Officer, based at INTO UEA will support INTO students with their applications to their desired programme.

The Newton Programme has been specially created to help high-performing students reach their full potential and achieve the highest A-level grades for a place at the University of their choice. You’ll study four A level qualifications in an academic pathway designed to give you maximum success in your chosen area:

  • Science and Medicine
  • Engineering and Mathematics
  • Economics and Actuarial Sciences

The BA (Hons) Business Management with International Year One is available for students who do not meet the standard UEA entry requirements for BA Business Management. You will be taught at INTO UEA in your first year and will complete the final two years of your degree at the Norwich Business School at UEA.

The first year at INTO UEA is designed to improve your English language skills, increase your knowledge of academic theory, and develop the necessary study and research skills for undergraduate study, before you transition to the Norwich Business School for your second and third years. You will benefit from being able to apply for a single student visa that covers the whole three years of study and you will graduate with a UEA degree on successful completion of the course.

The BA (Hons) Media and Global Development with International Year is available for students who do not meet the standard UEA entry requirements for BA Global Development and Media. You will be based at INTO UEA in your first year and taught by both INTO and UEA. You will then complete the final two years of your degree at the School of Global Development at UEA.

INTO UEA English Language Courses

The INTO Pre-sessional English intensive course is for students starting an undergraduate and postgraduate degree, and who are looking for tailor-made English language and academic preparation relevant to their chosen subject.

This 20-hour-per-week course is suitable for you if you are academically qualified, hold an offer from the University of East Anglia, and want to improve your English language level before starting an undergraduate or postgraduate course in September. The Pre-sessional course runs from late May to early September – your course length will depend on your current language level and degree programme requirements.

Combine English language study with the chance to take academic modules at UEA. Study Abroad with English is ideal if you want to spend time in the UK developing your English skills, with the opportunity to gain university credit.
