My UEA Story: Rye Dag Holmboe
My name is Rye Dag Holmboe and I am a Leverhulme Postdoctoral Fellow at UEA. I started my research in May 2020 with the School of Art, Media and American Studies.
Research interests:
I am especially interested in art’s relationship to psychoanalysis. Recently I have been working on figures such as Anna Freud and Marion Milner and have examined the ways in which creative process was mobilized in their work as a means to psychic reparation. I am also interested in psychoanalysis’s relationship to pragmatism and pedagogy: both Marion Milner and Anna Freud worked with children, while their innovations in psychoanalytic treatment and method allowed them to make important contributions to society at large.
What appealed to you about your fellowship?
The Leverhulme Fellowship provides a structure with which you can explore your research area with a great deal of freedom. It also allows for a great deal of travel and archival research, and encourages cross-disciplinary work.
