Study and Modules
Structure
You're expected to complete this Postgraduate Certificate programme by studying one year part-time. During your time with us, you'll need to complete two compulsory modules, in which you'll explore advances in both theory and practice in clinical education and leadership, and you'll learn to apply your knowledge to the practical design and development of teaching and inquiry methods.
These clinical education modules are designed to help you reflect on your own learning in order to support learning in others. They will also help you develop the skills you need to design your own teaching programmes and techniques using contemporary methods, in a way that is relevant to your discipline and clinical area.
The course is entirely online (no face-to-face contact). Each module will be delivered fully online through a number of teaching blocks mixing asynchronous and live synchronous activities. Each learning block will be divided into two-three asynchronous eWorkshops that you'll need to complete in your own time and at your own pace withing the course timeframe. Each learning block is linked to one synchronous session that you're required to attend. You'll also need to engage in independent study, workplace-based learning and reflection, as well as with time required to prepare assignments.
Each 20-credit module involves approximately 200 effort hours, and 40 credit-module approximately 400 effort hours. This includes hours spent on online activities, synchronous and asynchronous teaching, pre- and post-class activities
You'll need to have access to teaching opportunities while on the course to enable you to make concrete theory-practice links and to facilitate work-based projects. Therefore, you're required to be engaging in an educational role (can be honorary) and will be responsible for organising your teaching.
Please download and review the following documents carefully to ensure that you are familiar with the course schedule and requirements.

Compulsory Modules
Whilst the University will make every effort to offer the modules listed, changes may sometimes be made arising from the annual monitoring, review and update of modules. Where this activity leads to significant (but not minor) changes to programmes and their constituent modules, the University will endeavour to consult with students and others. It is also possible that the University may not be able to offer a module for reasons outside of its control, such as the illness of a member of staff. In some cases optional modules can have limited places available and so you may be asked to make additional module choices in the event you do not gain a place on your first choice. Where this is the case, the University will inform students.
