Research in the Department of Political, Social & International Studies (PSI) is supported within the framework of three broad groups, reflecting the focus and strengths of our Department: Democracy & Governance; Cultural Politics, Communication and Media; and Critical Global Politics.
Open to all staff and PhD Students, as well as colleagues from other parts of the School and University, the groups are forums for discussing work-in-progress, debating general intellectual developments, and developing research collaborations. They are also important venues for the mentoring of Early Career Researchers by more experienced colleagues. Several staff members participate in more than one group.
Research partners
Our scholars work with colleagues from other disciplines in the Centre for Competition Policy, the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change, the UEA 3S Group (Science, Society and Sustainability), the Migration Research Network, policy@uea, media@uea, and with national and international partners in collaborative projects, such as CREATe, Negotiating Brexit, and EMU Choices.
Research highlights
Staff have been awarded grants by many of the main national and international funding bodies.
Research impact
We also work to ensure that our research reaches beyond the academy and has an impact on society, policy, and the economy.
