Mathematics Research

We are a dynamic research community with a strong international research reputation and a strong tradition of interdisciplinary research.

In REF2021, 94% of our research was assessed to be 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent'. Our research covers the areas of Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Statistics, and it is divided into four groups: Algebra, Number Theory, Logic, & Representations, Fluids & Structures, Quantum Matter, and Statistics. We host weekly research seminars during term time.
