Doctor of Education

Based in the School of Education and Lifelong Learning, the five-year part-time Doctor of Education (EdD) programme is designed to enable you to understand and apply cutting-edge academic research methodologies to professional practice and current concerns in areas related to education, training, and professional development. The EdD programme is open to home and international students.

You will be joining a group of like-minded colleagues eager to challenge your professional thinking and you will benefit from in-person weekend study blocks during the first two years of the programme.

The programme is structured to support the progress of your research and development of your thesis through a sequence of assignments designed to encourage critical approaches to literature reviews, research design, and the collection, management, and analysis of data. Support from a supervisory team is a constant feature throughout the programme.

This programme recruits every two years. The course will open for recruitment on Wednesday 25th October 2025 for a start in October 2026.
