There are around 300 postgraduate researchers working towards PhD or professional doctorates across the Faculty of Social Sciences. As a postgraduate researcher in the Faculty of Social Sciences you will be a member of a research community. All our current students are embedded in their Schools or Research Centres, working alongside each other, their supervisors and the other researchers in the School. Feedback over a number of years has told us how important this is to postgraduate researchers. Facilities for postgraduate research are organised on a School-basis.
Each School has its own postgraduate researcher forum, where students can discuss issues relating to their student experience or organise social activities or research-related activities. Each School has a Postgraduate Research Director whose role it is to support our postgraduate researchers and work with them to make our postgraduate research environment the best that it can be. At Faculty level, representatives from each School meet as the Graduate School Student Forum to discuss issues relating to their student experience.
We are very proud of our postgraduate researchers and the amazing work that they do. One great example of our students working together is the postgraduate conference organised by our students. We celebrate the achievements of our postgraduate researchers through annual prizes awarded by the Faculty.
