Deprescribing Toolkit

In May 2019, Medicines Optimisation Group East Anglia (MOG_EA) developed a toolkit to better equip GPs to reduce the amount of opioids they prescribe.

Combining international research evidence and the experiences of health organisations and individual practitioners, the toolkit outlines seven areas of best practice to tackle chronic opioid use.  The approach will enable effective intervention components to be adapted for diverse health systems to achieve feasibility and scalability whilst maintaining efficacy - a service specification that can be translated across regions.

It has been supported by NIHR Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care East of England, hosted by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust. For more information about the project visit
