Alongside formal training opportunities within and outside UEA, we organise a Research Support Group for our postgraduate researchers where a variety of issues related to academic (and non-academic) research are considered. Discussions (typically facilitated by academic staff and including ‘guest experts’ when appropriate) range from planning a programme of research to open science practices and to maximising the impact of your research. Research Support Group meetings occur most weeks, rotating through topics that are particularly relevant to researchers at earlier or later stages of their PhD work. Here are a few examples of previous topics covered:
- Grant Applications
- Effective Academic Job Applications
- How to write a CV for jobs outside academia
- Enterprise and Engagement
- Surviving Journal Reviews
- International Collaborations
