Get organised nice and early Get organised nice and early

Our open days are a great opportunity to see what UEA and Norwich has to offer. You'll be able to explore our campus, meet staff and students, and get a feel for the student experience at UEA. To help you make the most of your trip, we've pulled together some handy tips on travel arrangements, planning and arrival.

Travelling by car - Open Day parking

We are just 3 miles from Norwich city centre. That means a short bus or taxi ride from Norwich rail or coach station.

We are not able to offer parking on campus however there is free parking with a short shuttle bus journey from Norwich’s Costessey Park and Ride (the journey time is approximately 20 minutes depending on traffic). The postcode is NR9 3LX.

Costessey Park and Ride can be found just off the A47, follow signs for the Norfolk showground and then when you leave the A47 follow the blue signs for the park and ride. Once you have parked your car, please head to the gazebo (near the entrance) where you can catch our free shuttle buses to campus. Please show the driver one of your UEA emails as you board the bus.

Buses run from 08:00 every 15 minutes and the last bus back to the park and ride from campus is at 18:00.

If accessible parking is needed for a blue badge holder please email opendays@uea.ac.uk to arrange this with us.

Arrival on campus and check in

Our Open Day runs from 08:30 to 16:00. When you arrive, head to the Student's Union to check in, pick up prospectuses, subject brochures, your map and, if you don’t have yours already, your Open Day programme.

Bring your email confirmation with your QR code so you can check in quickly. If you forget your email, don’t worry – you can still check in, but it might take slightly longer.

If you registered online more than two weeks in advance, you should have been sent an Open Day Programme through the post. If not, don’t worry, we have lots here.

You can leave any luggage in the Students’ Union, although we don’t have a designated locked room. Just ask a member of staff for help.

You’ll also find the ‘Information Zone’ in the Student Union Building. Here, representatives from the admissions, student finance and accommodation teams will be on hand to answer your questions throughout the day.

Trains and Buses

Organise your travel and accommodation early and save money. If you book early, tickets tend to be cheaper:

Book your train travel

Book your coach travel

If you want to spend a night in Norwich, and get to know our amazing city a little better, you should also book your accommodation early. Our campus is 15 minutes away by bus or taxi, or a 40 minute walk. See Norwich hotels

Or you can stay right here on campus at Broadview Lodge, which offers special Open Day discounts. Book Broadview Lodge

Plan your day

Read the programme and make a rough plan of your day. You can attend as many subject talks, tours and demonstrations as you like. There’s no need to book onto these. But if there are any you really want to see, try to get there 15 minutes early to be sure of a place. If any talks get really busy, we might have to limit them to one guest per student. Talks vary in length but are usually between 30-45 minutes.

Your Open Day runs from 08:30 to 16:00 and you can spend as much of that time on campus as you like. Most people stay for a few hours, making time to attend a subject talk or demonstration and get a feel for the campus.

Help on the day

This is your Open Day. Relax, enjoy and explore. And don’t forget to ask us anything you want to know. Look for the people in 'ASK ME' t-shirts. They’re there to help with anything you need. Some of them will lead tours of the campus and accommodation.

If you don’t feel like joining a guided tour, you can take a look around at your own pace using the map and guide you’ll get when you arrive.

Ask us anything

If you have any additional requirements, just let us know. We can talk to you about everything from accessibility to dietary requirements and financial help getting here. Let us know what you want from your Open Day and we’ll do all we can to accommodate you. Just get in touch as soon as you can on 01603 593251 or email opendays@uea.ac.uk

Accessibility

UEA is open to everyone, and this includes our Open Day. The campus is fully accessible, and we have support available for all levels of mobility. If you have any questions or concerns before the event, or need some help on the day, get in touch on 01603 593251 or email opendays@uea.ac.uk
