Do I need to book for the Open Days?

Yes, you need to register online before coming to the Open Day so that you receive all the relevant information you need before arriving on the day. You will then need to check in when you arrive on campus.

Registration for the 2017 Open Days will open on 1 March 2017.


Can I amend or cancel my booking online?

Yes, you just need to follow the instructions below:

To amend your booking

  • See our Open Day list
  • Select the new date you wish to attend
  • Enter your username and password to sign in
  • Click on the 'my events/interviews' tab
  • Decline the original Open Day booking made in the actions column
  • Click the search button
  • On the starts on drop down menu, select 'Within 1 year'
  • Click 'search'
  • Select the new event you would like to register for
  • Click 'register' in the right hand column
  • Check all of the information is correct
  • Click 'register'

To cancel

  • See our Open Day list
  • Select the Open Day date you registered for
  • Enter your username and password to sign in
  • The 'my events/interviews' tab shows you the events you have registered for
  • In the action column click 'decline' to cancel your booking

Will I receive confirmation of my online registration?

Yes, you will receive an email confirming you have registered within 24 hours.


Can I book by telephone?

If you're having any difficulties with our online registration procedure please call us on 01603 593251 and we can register you over the phone.


How do I get to UEA?

You can find out about getting to UEA (including parking information) on our travel page. Located just 3 miles from Norwich city centre, we are an easily accessible campus from all over the UK with excellent train links. There is a regular bus service from Norwich Train Station to our campus; the journey takes around 20 minutes.


Can I park at the Open Day?

Yes, our car park team, wearing high-vis jackets, will direct you to where you need to park. You can find more information about parking here. Please be aware our Open Days do get very busy so there may be a short wait whilst we park everyone at the start of the day.


What is the postcode for SATNAV?

The postcode for UEA's campus is NR4 7TJ. UEA is well signposted from all routes into Norwich.


Do I need to bring anything with me?

You need to bring your email confirmation containing your QR code so we can register you quickly on the day. If you forget your email, we will still be able to register you (it just takes longer).

If you register online more than 2 weeks in advance of an Open Day, you will be sent an Open Day programme through the post. Please bring this too, it will help you plan your day.


Where shall I report to on arrival?

Please head to Students' Union building in the heart of campus, where you will be able to check in on the day. There will be lots of UEA staff and students on hand to direct you.


Do I need to register on the day?

Yes please! You can check in at any point during the day in the Students' Union building where you can collect prospectuses, subject brochures and an Open Day programme and map.


Can I leave my luggage?

Yes you can leave your luggage although we don't have a designated, locked room for storing any personal belongings. If you need to leave luggage, please ask a member of UEA staff in the Students' Union.


Is there wifi?

Yes, 'The Cloud' wifi is freely available across our campus. Select 'The Cloud' when connecting to wifi on your device and follow the instructions on your screen.


Where can I find out more about student finance, accommodation and admissions?

Representatives from the admissions, student finance and accommodation teams will be on hand to answer your questions in the 'Information Zone' in the Student Union Building throughout the day until 3.30pm.


Can I attend more than one subject talk?

Yes, please attend any subject talks you are interested in. Please bear in mind that although we don't require you to book onto talks in advance, some get very busy, so attendance may be limited to one guest per student. We would advise you to turn up around 15 minutes before each talk to ensure you get a seat.


How long do subject talks last?

It varies depending on your chosen subject. Most last between 30 and 45 minutes with time for questions afterwards.


Can I meet academics and current students?

Yes, you can meet current students and academic staff throughout the day; you can find out where to meet students and academics from your subject(s) of interests in the Open Day programme. 


Do I need to book practical demos for Science or Health?

You don't need to book onto any practical demonstrations.More information about the types of demonstrations on offer and where you can go to see the demonstrations can be found in the subject areas on the day.


Will I be sent a hard copy of the Open Day programme in advance?

We will send all students who pre-register up to two weeks before the Open Day starts a copy of the programme in advance, this will really help you plan your day. If you register just before the event, we won't be able to send you one in the post but have plenty around for you to pick up on the day. 


Can I bring guests?

We welcome all visitors to our campus so plese do bring guests with you! Do bear in mind, some of our subject talks are very popular, so we may limit attendance to one guest per student.


Can I look around the campus and accommodation on my own?

Yes, we have a number of guided campus and accommodation tours on offer delivered by our trained student guides. Of course, if you would prefer to look around at your own pace, you can take a self-guided campus tour (which includes the option to visit our different types of accommodation). Please visit the campus tours stand on the day for more information.


What if I have additional requirements?

If there is anything we can do to make your visit to UEA easier and more enjoyable, please do let us know. There is a space on the registration form for you to inform us of any additional needs. We will contact any visitor who gives us information about their additional requirements prior to the day to ensure that you can enjoy your experience fully. If you would like to discuss the support that will be available on the day for you, please call 01603 593251 or email opendays@uea.ac.uk.


Is there anywhere to eat on campus?

Yes, there are a number of catering outlets across campus. Whether you want a quick coffee or a hot meal, we have something for everyone. Information about where to find food and drink is available in the Open Day programme.


What emails should I expect to get before the Open Day?

We will email you to confirm your event details when you register and you should receive this email within 24 hours. 

We will keep in touch with you between registering and attending the event via text messages, email and through social media and feel free to contact us at any time with any questions about the day at opendays@uea.ac.uk 


What are the opening times and do I need to stay all day?

The Open Day is open from 8.30am until 3.30pm. The campus is open all day for you to explore but you don't have to stay all day; we've designed our programme so that you can tailor your day to suit you and choose your own talks, tours and activities.


Will the whole campus be open at the Open Day?

We have an open campus so the majority of buildings will be open on the day. We often have some form of building work taking place on campus during the summer (where we are improving learning, social and living facilities) so some access may be restricted. There will also be a range of accommodation to view.


Will there be postgraduate information available?

Although these events are geared towards prospective undergraduate students, we would welcome postgraduate students interested in studying with us too. There will be a postgraduate study stand available with representatives from across UEA to speak to. Speak to a member of staff in the Students' Union to be directed on the day.
