Your University Questions, Answered.

What makes your law course any better than at another university? Chloe, London

Our Answer:

There are a lot of Law degrees out there, and finding the right course for you is really important. We hope this answer will give you a good overview of Law at UEA (and why we think you should come here to study!).

Firstly, our priority is you. UEA Law School is determined to “make a difference” and we’d like to think by studying with us, you’d find our dedication and commitment to your personal progression and development unrivalled.

Of course, we encourage you to thoroughly research your options so that you make the best decision for you… but here at UEA, as well as providing you with all the compulsory subjects required by the legal professional bodies in order to obtain a qualifying law degree, our enhanced curriculum places an emphasis on choice, which will help build your confidence, maximise your employability and help you to develop your transferable skills.

For example, in contrast to many other UK Law Schools, our students can benefit from a wide choice of competitive internship opportunities each year lasting between one and six weeks. Internships are available in a wide range of subject areas and in local, national and international law firms, and will provide you with important real-world experience.

We also offer a vibrant Law Society with an impressive events calendar which will encourage you to engage and hone valuable skills by taking part in mooting contests, negotiation, client interviewing and mediation competitions. Plus you’ll have the opportunity to gain first-hand professional experience working for our Law Clinic’s pro bono scheme – explaining the law, giving advice or representing clients in tribunals.

But don’t just take our word for it… in the latest National Student Survey (2016) the UEA Law School received an overall satisfaction score of 97 per cent. UEA Law School was also awarded 1st in the UK for teaching. We’re also ranked a Top 10 UK Law department in the 2017 Guardian University Guide. Check out our degree options and find out for yourself all we have to offer.
