Your University Questions, Answered.

If you are studying a NHS funded course, do you still get a tuition fee loan or just a maintenance loan? Georgia, Felixstowe

Our Answer:

Hi Georgia. There are changes coming to the way Health courses are funded, and these will start on 1 August 2017. This means that if you start your degree in September 2017, you’ll receive a support package of fee and maintenance (living cost) loans just like any other undergraduate student from Student Finance England.

Not all the details of the changes have been finalised yet, but we’ve put together a funding guide to help you understand how things might work. It contains general advice on:

  • student loans
  • living support
  • scholarship opportunities

Ultimately, although funding for Health courses has changed, going to university is still an affordable option that we would encourage you to pursue.
