Your University Questions, Answered.
Are there any art galleries in Norwich?
Not only are there a few art galleries in Norwich, we have our very own on the UEA campus - the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts (SCVA) - also the location of the Avengers' HQ in The Avengers: Age of Ultron movie!
Designed by architect Norman Foster this building houses both an art gallery and museum packed full of interesting objects spanning over 5,000 human years. The SCVA houses the Robert and Lisa Sainsbury Collection comprising modern work by artists such as Henry Moore, John Davies, Alberto Giacometti and Francis Bacon, as well as art from Africa, the Pacific, the Americas, Asia, Egypt, medieval Europe and the ancient Mediterranean.
You can make use of the free entry for students and head to the SCVA after lectures and seminars.
The Sainsbury Centre galleries, café, restaurant and the School of Art History and World Art Studies are used by over 150,000 people a year. Our student blogger Anne-Sophie is a regular visitor to the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts. Her blog regularly reviews the latest exhibitions.
The Visit Norwich website has details of other galleries and museums in Norwich and the surrounding area.
