Your University Questions, Answered.

Can I swim in the lake? Hannah, Leeds

Our Answer:

The lake is beautiful, and on a summer's day when you're making use of the campus BBQs with friends, it can be a tempting prospect to go for a swim, but DON'T DO IT! It's cold, and deep, and you might get tangled in weeds, pecked by a swan, or jumped on by an enthusiastic dog. We have a glorious, Olympic-sized swimming pool on site, so why would you?

The Sportspark (biggest indoor sports centre in Britain) is accessible to all, and you can 'pay and play', or there are a number of discounted membership options. The pool has shallow and deep areas, and classes you can join in with including swimming lessons or Aqua Fit.

Our Student Union hosts a number of clubs you could join instead so take a look!

Elsewhere in Norwich, beside another big lake, Whitlingham Outdoor Education Centre offers water-based courses and craft hire; and if you fancy a scenic bus or train ride, the Norfolk coast is very close by, with a selection of beaches.
