Your University Questions, Answered.
Can you change your course in the first two weeks at UEA? For example from Psychology to English Literature?
Psychology to English Literature would be a bit of a switch. In theory, this might be possible, but cannot be guaranteed.
Our Admissions Team handle change of course requests and the process starts with the completion of a Transfer Request Form. It’s always advisable to submit a transfer request at the earliest opportunity. There are a couple of things you need to be aware of before changing course:
- Entry requirements for the new course – is there anything specific that we’re asking for? If you’re looking to transfer to the BA English Literature, you’ll need an A-Level in English Literature.
- A switch of Psychology to English Literature would mean changing from a course offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences to the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, making the process more complicated. It’s more common for people to transfer within a Faculty, or even a subject area.
- Sometimes a change of course cannot be offered simply due to the number of people already on the course – there are often restrictions on the number of places on specific modules and this can influence whether a change of course is approved.
Of course, the best solution to this is to make sure you get the best advice on choosing a course before you apply.
