Module: British Film and Television

Year: 2013

What did you enjoy most about studying at the University of East Anglia?

Studying at UEA was unlike anything I could have imagined. The best part was that UEA felt like a city within a city. The campus had everything a student could need from restaurants to pubs! There was always something to do on campus. Besides the social things I could do, the campus had an immense amount of green space for bunnies to roam free and for me, as a student, to be able to study in quiet and peaceful settings. Everyone you came in contact with was so friendly and helpful!

What did you like about your chosen module?

My module was a comprehensive hands-on programme that broadened my view of the film industry on a global scale. The films that were viewed in class, some I have never heard of before, were AWESOME! Being able to apply what was learnt during lectures to the movies helped solidify my understanding of the material. Besides the interesting course material, the classes were small. Having the small class sizes made me feel like I was not just a number but a student with professors with a passion for Great British Film and Television. The professors actually took the time to get to know each of us making our learning experience that much more enjoyable.

What would you say to a student who is thinking about taking part in the programme?

Students who are thinking about applying to the programme shouldn’t second-guess their decision. Studying at UEA during the International Summer School was the best schooling I have ever done. I know that I have still a few years ahead of me in school but nothing can compare to the activities, the friendships, the academics, the assignments, and the culture that I experienced at UEA. The International Summer School brings together people from all over the world from Australia to Canada, and everywhere in between! The people I met at UEA are like family to me, we all got along so well, learning from each other’s diverse cultures and growing together as people. I can honestly say that coming back from UEA’s International Summer School has made me a better person, a more mature person, and my view of the world has expanded tremendously.
