Did you enjoy studying abroad at the University of East Anglia?
There’s a very special place in my heart for Norwich and the International Summer School. Among the many reasons why I could quote that is the fact that this was my first trip abroad, and the emotional and material safety the UEA provided me were priceless. Since before I left Brazil, after exchanging loads of emails and following their Facebook, I knew I could rely on them. That fact alone opened the door for me to enjoy the month in a carefree way.
What was it like studying with students from around the world?
When I got there and met the other students I observed that, despite the great diversity of our backgrounds, we had a lot in common, and that’s such a powerful feeling. It makes you really feel connected to the world and made me realise, in fact, we live in a global society, which is able to preserve the peculiarities of its nations and still share a worldwide knowledge and culture.
Did you enjoy living and learning in Norwich?
I was born, grew up and lived in the biggest city of Latin America. It’s a city that never sleeps, a dangerous but marvellous place to live. However, nothing in my hometown is as impressive as the kindness, warm politeness and the generosity I found in Norwich people. Needless to say, if I had to choose between Norwich and Sao Paulo … I would miss the 24 hour cafes, but I’m sure midnight grocery-shopping at Tesco’s could fix that.
