Module: Plague and Disease in the Medieval City

Year: 2014

What advice would you give to students who are thinking about applying to the programme?

You’re going to have the time of your life! After having gone through the programme I feel silly for being so nervous about going away. From the moment you get to the campus there are so many activities planned and so much to do in the city that there is no time to feel homesick! I also made great friends that I hope to travel to and see again. My module was both fun and educational, and was definitely the most rewarding class I have ever taken. There was truly never a dull moment! Trust me, when the programme is over, you won’t want to leave either!

How did you find the experience of studying with students from all around the world?

Meeting people from all around the world was so exciting and educational. Despite being from such different places, the longer we were at UEA the less those differences showed! Everyone was so open and eager to learn about different backgrounds and I learned so much about different cultures. It is also really cool to be able to say I have friends on the other side of the world!

What was your favourite thing about living in Norwich?

It is so hard to name just one thing! There was always something to do and new parts of the city to explore! One minute we were in a building from the 1200s and the next we were in a modern shopping mall! The city offers great food and stores and the bus stop on campus made it convenient to get there. Norwich is definitely one of my favourite cities I have ever been to and I hope to see it again in the future!
