Summer Study Abroad staff member Alex ColeAlex has been writing, hosting and delivering residential courses at the University for more than ten years, hosting international groups since 2010. Alex is a Business Management graduate from UEA and takes a key focus on strategy and planning, with partner collaborations and programme content being of particular importance. Alex says: "We've developed some exciting new initiatives for summer 2016 and I'm looking forward to another exciting programme of activities. We have some new modules on offer adding to our diverse range of options, and our social programme activities are looking great! We're proud that our academic classes are all taught by the University's academic staff, and students choosing to study with us will be given every opportunity to experience the culture and heritage of the East of England as part of our inclusive programme with those that currently live and study here. We hope you're looking forward to this summer as much as we are."

Miss Maren Albrigtsen

International Programmes Coordinator

Maren came to UEA as an international student in 2013. After completing her Master's degree in International Development, she took on an internship with the UEA Careers Service, before joining our team in 2015. Maren is the newest member of the team and she is really looking forward to working on the International Summer School! Maren says, "Coming to study at UEA is definitely the best decision I've ever made! You get it all here - a world class university with excellent teaching, an international and vibrant campus, as well as the beautiful city of Norwich only a short bus ride away. As a former international student I understand that coming all the way to England can be a bit scary, but I promise you it is definitely worth it! People here are lovely, and we will help you with any questions or problems you may have." Maren is responsible for student liaison and general enquiries through our email account.

Mr Tom Percy

International Programmes Coordinator

Summer Study Abroad staff member Tom Percy

Tom first joined the team as a Student Ambassador in 2013 during his undergraduate Modern History degree. He has since gone on to complete a Masters in History and returned to the team in 2015. He has been responsible for setting up our social networking, and taking a very student facing role. Tom says, "I'm excited to have been involved in planning the 2016 International Summer School team. I really enjoy being able to talk to students in the lead up to the Summer School and then see all their hard work pay off at the end. Not only can students expect an excellent academic experience delivered by university experts, but also to develop personally and experience the UK. Meeting so many people from all over the world is such a unique experience, and being able to share Norwich and Norfolk with them is such a pleasure." Tom looks forward to meeting this year's arrivals at London Heathrow airport.

Mr Patrick Bingham

International Programmes Ambassador

Patrick Bingham

Patrick is an international student from the USA and is currently studying for his PhD in Film. After joining the team in 2014, Patrick says "Being an international student myself means I completely understand how daunting it can seem coming to a new country where you don't know anyone, but studying abroad at UEA was the best decision I've ever made! The UEA campus is a great place to live and learn with everything you need close by, and Norwich itself is such a beautiful city (even if the local accent can be a bit difficult to understand sometimes!). I would highly recommend the UEA International Summer School to anyone who wants to spend their summer studying in the UK." Patrick will be one of the residential social programme coordinators during summer 2016.

Miss Niamh Moore
International Programmes Ambassador

Niamh is currently in the final year of her English Literature degree. This will be Niamh's second year working for the International Programmes team but her first year as part of the International Summer School. She says, "I am really looking forward to getting involved in the summer school this year. I have heard a lot of good things about it and wanted to be involved! I cannot wait to meet all of the students and find out where everyone comes from, while being able to show them the joys of living in Norwich and Norfolk! My advice for students coming in 2016 is to make sure you pack winter and summer clothing. This year we had wind, rain and glorious sunshine - often all in one day! Who knows what the British weather has in store for 2016." Niamh will be one of the residential social programme coordinators during summer 2016.
