Middle East and Gulf

Ahlan! Hi! I am Miriam and I am the ambassador for the Middle East and Gulf region.
I’m currently in my second year of an undergraduate degree in International Relations and Politics. I definitely enjoy it more than last year, since there are more face-to-face lectures and seminars alongside the benefit of still having lectures recorded and uploaded online. My course is absolutely incredible, very modernized, and decolonized!
I wanted to study abroad to get exposed to more culture diversity, independency, and higher education standards. I chose UK because a degree in politics can be achieved in just three years, which is less time compared to almost all other countries. I also preferred the idea that the degrees are more topic focused rather than subject focused, where I can focus on topics that interest me in depth.
I chose UEA specifically for my studies not only because it’s one of the top ranked universities in the UK, but also because it keeps ranking higher every next year. I was also attracted by the fact that UEA has CareerCentral, an entity that helps students apply for part-time jobs and internships, assist in finding a job or apply for another degree after graduation, and provide the employability skills required. To me, it was incredible to know that I’ll be able to find assistance in planning my future career path.
Besides enjoying the high academic reputation, staff support, and career assistance, I love how UEA is a Campus-based Uni! All facilities are just in one place, making it easier to access my classes, get food in my breaks, and even chill around the on-campus lake!
Norwich is full of opportunities, new experiences, and amazing people from all around the world! In my free time, I enjoy going to the city center for shopping, eating from the Norwich market, or just enjoy a walk around the river. Norwich is a small city, but it has the perfect balance between the quiet and the loud activities. There is always something happening! And, most importantly, it is very safe which makes it feel just like home.
