Your University Questions, Answered.

Can I visit the beach? Ntokozo, South Africa

Our Answer:

No other university in the UK can boast such a varied coastline as that of Norfolk. With 93 miles of unspoilt coastline, to traditional seaside resorts, here at UEA we have it all on your doorstep.

Holkham beach is one of the most unspoilt and beautiful stretches of sand in the country. Don't take our word for it, Holkham has been voted as having the best beach in the UK by travel writers. Popular with film makers (Gwyneth Paltrow has trodden the shoreline in recent years) and the general public, Holkham is perfect for a relaxing day of sunbathing, picnics and some afternoon ball games to round off the day.

If you're a budding photographer or a keen wildlife lover then a visit to the seals is a must. Several colonies exist along the coastline; around 500 can be seen at Blakeney. Naturally inquisitive creatures they can often be seen popping up and swimming around the boats specifically designed for trips to see the seals.

The Norfolk coast is also home to several nature reserves and areas of outstanding natural beauty. Spend a day exploring the trails lined by towering pine trees, or for the more adventurous an early morning walk to see the sun rising within the shelter and comfort of the nearby sand dunes.

If rollercoasters, arcades and the odd game of crazy golf are more your thing then heading for a day out at Great Yarmouth or Lowestoft with your friends may be more to your liking. A short train ride away, both are popular with our current students as the ideal place to get away, let your hair down and have a break from studying.
