The core interest of the Cognition Action Perception group (CAP) is the interplay between high-level cognition and lower level vision and action processes in typical and atypical populations. The group is led by Professor John Spencer and comprises of eleven members of faculty. Group members utilize eyetracking, virtual reality, motion capture, electroencephalography, functional neuroimaging and neuropsychological techniques to investigate a range of research questions.
The work of the group is currently supported by a range of funding sources including a H2020 MSCA ITN (grant agreement No 676063). In this programme, called DComm, UEA works with 11 European partner organisations to explore deictic communication, which forms the crucial connection between language and objects and locations in the world.
