Paul graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of East Anglia in 1999 before going on to complete an MSc in Taught organic chemistry again at the UEA. He then worked at Derwent PLC as a chemical indexer before returning to UEA in 2002 to complete a PhD under the supervision of Dr Robert A Stockman. After a spell working as a Medicinal Chemist at BioFocus PLC in Cambridge, he then made his second return to UEA in 2007 to take up a teaching position within the School of Pharmacy. He currently holds the position of Senior Lecturer in Medicinal Chemistry and his key focus is teaching scholarship.
Paul has been brought onto the pre-reg training team primarily for his expertise in the use of learning technologies. He has been instrumental in the implementation of screencasting, lecture capture and audience response methods for the MPharm programme and he has also developed a method for creating free to use online learning resources based in Prezi. He continues to develop ways of adapting learning technologies to complement active learning methods with a view to improving the learning experience of all our MPharm students and pre-reg trainees.
