Maria became a registered pharmacist in 1978 after completing a BPharm and pre-registration training in London. She completed a PhD degree in Drug Metabolism (University of London, 1982) and then undertook postdoctoral work in the field of carcinogenesis in the USA.
Maria returned to the UK in 1996 and has been employed by the NHS to head training programmes for pre-registration trainee pharmacists across East Anglia. She served on various national committees focussing on NHS pharmacy education and training and as a member of the RPS Education Forum. Maria completed an MSc in Advanced Pharmacy practice in 2011 and was designated Fellow of the RPS Faculty in 2014 via portfolio submission.
Maria is currently working for the UEA School of Pharmacy as Director of the East of England NHS Pre-reg Trainee Pharmacist Programme. She is passionate about the design and delivery of a high quality programme and its alignment with ongoing pharmacy education reforms led by Health Education England. Maria has recently become a Fellow of the RPS.
