Management of Next Steps

The scheme is managed by the UEA Outreach team. This involves the recruitment and training of tutors, liason with schools to organise placements, and the accreditation of tutors.

DBS checks for Next Steps tutors

All students need a valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The UEA central DBS office will process checks for all Next Steps tutors. The DBS process normally takes a month, and will be completed during March 2015. More information will be provided on the process once you have accepted a placement in a school. If you already have a current DBS, processed by UEA, then you may not need another DBS check. You will need to show your DBS to both the Outreach team and to your Next Steps placement school.
