The University of East Anglia (UEA) has risen into the UK’s top 25 universities in a leading league table released today (Wednesday 7 June).

The Complete University Guide (CUG) 2024 has placed UEA in joint 22nd in their 2024 rankings, a rise of five places from 27th place last year.

The annual CUG league tables rank across the UK on ten individual measures, including: entry standards, student satisfaction, research quality, graduate prospects and student-staff ratio.

UEA’s rise comes a week after the University entered the world’s top 40 in sustainability in the Times Higher Education Impact rankings, and announced that its 2020/21 cohort had achieved the University’s highest ever percentage in HESA’s graduate outcomes survey, with 84% of the Class of 2021 in professional work or further study 15 months after graduating.

UEA’s Vice-Chancellor and President, Prof David Maguire, said: “This is a significant climb for the University which brings us back into the top 25 in the UK and continues the trend of the last few weeks of UEA moving in a positive direction in university league tables.

“As is apparent from its name, the Complete University Guide assesses the impact of universities’ offering across the board. At UEA we are very proud to be a dual-intensive university that delivers excellence in education world-class research, so to be improving in an assessment that recognises both of these is very satisfying, and something that we will continue to build on.”

Simon Emmett, Chief Executive Officer of IDP Connect, said: “With more and more students thinking about how they can make the most of their university experience, the 2024 Complete University Guide league tables will serve as an important guide. We know these rankings help them to make the right decisions about where and what to study as they take their first steps into higher education.

“What makes the Complete University Guide special is its independence. The tables’ independence from our other operations remains a crucial part of our organisation and ensures that students, parents, and advisors can trust the results and make informed choices based on them.”
