This project aimed to produce high quality analysis to inform scientific and public debate and the development of future long-term care and pension policy up to 2030. It used a number of linked simulation models and was composed of five linked work packages.
MAP2030 was funded under the cross-research council New Dynamics of Ageing initiative. It is a collaboration between teams at the London School of Economics, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the University of East Anglia, the University of Leicester and the Pensions Policy Institute.  Several of the researchers involved in this project were appointed as members of the academic advisory panel for the Commission on Funding Care and Support chaired by Andrew Dilnot. New analysis was undertaken for the Commission and used by them in coming to their recommendations. Their recommendations have been adopted by the Government in a modified form. The ESRC is using the project as an exemplar impact case study.
