Biography

Before taking up a full time lectureship in 2009, Jo completed a UEA undergraduate literature degree (1996-99), and an AHRC-funded PhD at UEA on science and early eighteenth-century verse (2006).

Key Research Interests

Satire (ancient to modern); literary genres in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, including the evolution of the novel; the political and religious culture of the early eighteenth century; eighteenth-century print culture; early eighteenth-century aesthetics and the evolution of the sublime; religious verse and poetry about the natural world; intersections between literature and science.
