Paston Footprints - Volunteers’ Symposium

600 Paston Footprints are holding a Volunteers’ Symposium on the 3rd September at UEA Council Chamber, everyone welcome.

This is free to attend and the project is HLF funded and is led by the UEA and Paston Heritage Society.

We aim to uncover and to make accessible more of the remarkable story of Norfolk’s Paston Family and their world famous letters, which will include digitisation of the letters and working with communities in 10 key centres in Norfolk (Paston, Bacton, North Walsham, Gresham and Mannington, Oxnead, Blofield, Caister and Mautby, Hellesdon, Dereham and Norwich).

This work will culminate with the identification of 10 heritage walks or cycle routes. And why 600 footprints? 2018 marks the 600th anniversary of the first Paston correspondence, and we plan a multi-sited festival across Norfolk, involving creative writers, re-enactors, drama productions, lectures, workshops and other festivities.

You will have the chance to meet a variety of our partners, such as experts from the UEA, Paston Heritage Society, Norfolk Record Office, Norfolk Heraldry Society, Hungate Medieval Art, Community Action Norfolk, Norfolk Library Services, Norfolk County Council Historic Environment Service, Norfolk County Council Trails, North Norfolk Fit Together Walks, and many others.
