Find out more about what it means to take a non-credit module with us Find out more about what it means to take a non-credit module with us

Open to all UEA students, the opportunity to take a language module outside of your degree programme as a non-credit student will allow you to further develop your transferable skills, as well as increase your proficiency in your chosen language.

Our language modules are run like any other module and require several contact hours a week, along with the usual coursework and exams. Indeed, non-credit students will be enrolled in modules together with students taking the modules for credit, and the same amount of dedication and engagement is required. If non-credit students miss two consecutive seminars with no justification, they will be automatically withdrawn from the course.

As a non-credit option, the grades achieved in the module will not count towards your official grades. However, attendance certificates are available (by request) upon completion of the module with 80% attendance or above.

The most important thing about choosing a non-credit language module is that it doesn't clash with your degree programme timetable!

All modules cost £150, except Post A-Level levels which cost £175. You may also be eligible for a free language module; please check our webpage for details.

Please note that:

  • Enrollment of non-credit students will not take place until the credit students have finished choosing their modules; credit students will be given priority over spaces.

  • Although non-credit students will be able to view Course Test events on their timetables, these are available for credit students only.
