Biography

Tom is a PhD Candidate in Law at the University of East Anglia.  After completing his LLB at the University of Bristol in 2013, Tom spent two years working in financial regulation.  He returned to education in 2015 and was awarded an LLM in Media Law, Policy and Practice with Distinction in 2016 from UEA.  Subsequently, he obtained a School of Law Studentship for his PhD research which commenced in October 2016.  Tom's doctrinal thesis is provisionally entitled "Slaying Invisible Dragons: The Effect of the Defamation Act 2013 on Freedom of Expression".

Tom has taught on the undergraduate module 'Tort Law', and the postgraduate modules 'Media and Society' and 'Essential UK Public Affairs and Law for Journalists'.
