Cinema - a Japanese tradition Cinema - a Japanese tradition

This module, run by the Film, Television and Media, School of Art, Media and American Studies, explores the concept of Japanese cinema in relation to national, transnational and global discourses - seeking to reframe discussions of modern and past Japanese filmmaking. We will examine the ways in which a variety of Japanese films interact with the history, techniques and culture of Japan. We will also consider the social and commercial nature of Japanese filmmaking, including methods for circulating Japanese films throughout the world.  Please see Ranya Denison's page.
