HEE/ICA Internships for aspiring clinical academics in the East of England
The Health Education England (HEE) and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Integrated Clinical Academic (ICA) Programme provides personal research training awards for health and social care professionals who wish to develop careers that combine clinical research and research leadership with continued clinical practice and clinical development. The following awards funded by HEE East of England and managed by the University of East Anglia in partnership with other universities in the region are available to non-medical health and social care professionals employed in the East of England (Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk) to support the national agenda to increase research capacity and contribute to the improvement in patient outcomes:
- Pre-Masters Internship provides an introduction to research and prepares individuals to apply for a HEE/NIHR Pre-Doctoral Clinical Academic Fellowship (PCAF), Masters in Research or other similar career development opportunity.
- Pre-doctoral Bridging Award is designed to support individuals with Masters-level qualifications who aspire to undertake a Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship (HEE/NIHR CDRF) or similar opportunity.
- Post-doctoral Bridging Award is designed to support individuals with a PhD to progress their clinical academic career and to apply for an NIHR/HEE Clinical Lectureship or similar opportunity
