We operate a highly-regarded internship program that will give you the opportunity to gain experience from a work placement during the course of your degree. Under recent internships, students have been able to seek posts across a range of media and cultural organisations including those involved in video production, viral marketing, screen education, marketing and communications and community radio. Recent students have had placements with Lambda Films, CinemaPlus, Ethecomm, Proxama and Future Radio, amongst others. In some instances these placements have resulted in subsequent job offers to students following graduation.
We run ‘Working in the Media' seminars each semester that feature guest speakers (many of them are UEA alumni) from across the media and culture industries. At these events speakers share information and advice about finding jobs and provide students with valuable networking opportunities. We also facilitate participation in other more specialised vocational information events, such as the careers talk held specifically for UEA students by London-based visual effects company Double Negative in 2012.
Other Industry Events
Besides our regular programme of visiting industry speakers staff and students are also involved in the structure and delivery of industry events such as the annual Norwich Sound & Vision Festival, which brings together academics and practitioners from a diverse cross-section of media backgrounds: another opportunity for students to make connections with industry figures.
