William Walton’s Façade
A unique evening of music and poetry
John Innes Centre, Norwich Research Park
The Big C invites you to a unique evening of music and poetry. The evening starts at 6.30pm with a wine and soft drinks reception followed by a performance of William Walton’s Façade.
Façade is an entertainment of poetry with musical accompaniment. Walton’s music is great fun and a riot of styles including musical hall, jazz, and folk music. There are 21 short numbers with lots of good tunes. Some are soft and mysterious, others loud and extrovert and a few that are downright hilarious. Edith Sitwell’s poems are often very funny with their fiendish tongue-twisters requiring virtuoso reciters. It’s a unique piece of 1920’s silliness that is guaranteed entertainment for everyone, old and young. As all profits go the Big C to help with their fight against cancer there can be no better way to spend a summer’s evening!
- Zeb Soanes and Rosamund Walton - Reciters
- An ensemble of talented UEA and Norwich performers directed by Stuart Dunlop
