This role includes strategic planning of research goals and initiatives, as well as managing a ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ with the UK Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) to provide advice and evidence on marine climate change.

Fifteen years experience working in marine and freshwater ecosystems around the world. In-depth knowledge and practical experience in the assessment and modelling of fisheries, ecosystems and food-webs. Has played a key role in international working groups focussing on multispecies and/or ecosystem modelling. Chair (until 2009) of the ICES Working Group on Multispecies Assessment Methods (WGSAM). Topic Area Leader at CEFAS for Fisheries Modelling. Experience of working throughout  Northern Europe, the Mediterranean and in developing nations (Africa, South America). Extensive experience in the administration and management of fisheries and climate change research programmes.
