Thinking about primary school teaching?
The Men into Primary teaching scheme provides those interested with a chance to gain initial experience within a primary school setting. Applicants will get the chance to spend a day shadowing in a primary school, attend information sessions and also networking events with current male primary trainees, and teachers at various stages of their careers.
It is hoped that this will be beneficial for those who are considering a career in teaching as well as those who are unsure if it is the right route for them and wish to explore further without committing to a longer experience programme.
The aim is to highlight the benefits of being a male in primary school teaching, the routes into the profession and invite those from the profession to share their journeys and experiences. This opportunity will be split into a two day programme.
This will comprise of an afternoon of informal discussions, training and practical activities in order to best prepare participants for the shadowing experience on day two. There will also be a networking BBQ for students to chat to current primary teaching trainees, through to education professionals.
Applicants will spend the day shadowing a primary school teacher, giving the chance to make an informed choice about whether teaching is the career for them.
