Until December 2013 Ralph Manning was a Lecturer in Primary Education at the University of East Anglia, in Mathematics and Physical Education. Ralph taught in primary schools in Bedfordshire and Norfolk, following an earlier career in IT, and continues to teach occasionally in partnership schools. He is currently researching primary teachers’ confidence in mathematics teaching. His other interests are in developing children’s thinking skills, assessment and planning, and using ICT effectively to support these. He is a governor at a local primary school, and was a founding member of the General Teaching Council.
