Drinks Reception for Law Alumni in Mayfair

Philip Mould OBE (AHM78) generously gave his Mayfair Gallery as the location for our most recent Law drinks reception.  The evening brought together alumni from the earlier years of the Law School together with those who studied other subjects at UEA but who now work in Law.  For some, it was the first time of seeing former University friends for over 30 years. Graduation photos of the year groups helped to remind each other of the chosen fashions of the day!

On the evening Professor Peter Kunzlik, Head of UEA Law School, spoke of the importance of alumni involvement in the Law School today – how alumni are opening doors for our Undergraduates and using their career experience to help our students to understand what a career in Law can look like.  Simon Browne QC (LAW 78) spoke of how alumni are needed to help raise the remaining £1million of the Earlham Hall Campaign: to bring into use derelict outbuildings to provide the Law School with the setting they need to excel.  And, the evening was rounded off by Philip Mould OBE who gave a humorous insight into the making of BBC1's programme Fake and Fortune (Sunday evenings for those who missed the plug!).  We were fortunate that the recent Vuillard discovery from a Diss auction house, which was worth a fortune, was displayed in the gallery for us all to view and admire.

Law networks are being created and events are held mostly in London.  If you would like to become involved in the Earlham Hall Campaign and the Law School today please contact Georgette Ward, Development Manager at UEA on 01603 597574 or email: georgette.ward@uea.ac.uk.  We look forward to hearing from you.
