Dramatic Surprise at the Vice-Chancellor's Circle Event

UEA Drama students gave the Vice-Chancellor and his guests a dramatic surprise at an event earlier this year, when they burst into Shakespearean verse, interrupting the Vice-Chancellor's welcome address in the process!

The four students, Helena Nattrass, Susannah Martin, Harry Smith and James Thorpe, performed an adapted scene from A Midsummer's Night Dream to a firstly shocked, then an avid, audience at the inaugural Vice-Chancellor's Circle Event, held at the Vice-Chancellor's official residence in June of this year.

Despite the looming grey skies, the event was a celebratory occasion which marked the success of The Difference Campaign so far. It was also an opportunity for the University and the Vice-Chancellor to thank the generous donors who have given £10,000 or more in philanthropic support to the University. Attended by over 80 members of the Vice-Chancellor's and Chancellor's Circle, as well as by the University's Chancellor, Rose Tremain, the event included speeches from the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Edward Acton, and alumnus and scholarship donor, Dominic Christian.
