The Norfolk Bone and Joint Appeal was officially launched at the Assembly Rooms in Norwich on Thursday 18th July and seeks to raise at least £1m towards the £3m fundraising target for the new Norwich Medical Research Building by the end of 2014.

Earlier the same day the first local community fundraising took place when the Norfolk Afternoon Bridge Club entertained 80 players from all over Norfolk and successfully raised nearly £900 towards the appeal.

Following the launch and favourable coverage in the Eastern Daily Press on 19th July (see article here) a steady stream of donations have been made: online, and with cheques arriving at the Development Office, made payable to the Norfolk Bone and Joint Appeal.

Building on the success of the Norfolk Afternoon Bridge Club, the next fundraising event for the Appeal is being held by the Rheumatoid Arthritis in Norfolk Group (RiNG) who are holding a fete for the Appeal on Saturday August 17th at Hethersett Village Hall from 11am to 2pm.

The RiNG is a support group for people with RA and any other inflammatory arthritis. It meets at Hethersett Village Hall on the first Wednesday of each month from 2-4pm with a range of medical and other guest speakers. We aim to be the best informed patients we can and key members of our own medical teams, to offer mutual support, make friends and have fun.
