Water Options for Gaza

DEV Key Contact: Mark Zeitoun

Project Dates: 2009 - 2010

Project Status: Complete

The work considers the different options for supply of water to Gaza. Scarcity of water and water quality have purely political roots stemming from the Israeli siege, and over-population from several population influxes from refugees in 1948 and 1967. Environmental justice issues abound in the form of climate vulnerability, proximity of communities to wastewater lagoons. EJ issues are inextricably linked with social justice issues related to the broader political conflict.
