About
The course emphasises the development and enhancement of transferable intellectual and study skills, all of which are highly relevant to business and management careers. These include improved self-awareness and personal development appropriate to graduate careers in business, alongside a potential for management positions. You’ll also gain the quantitative and analytical skills that are essential for a successful career in the fast-paced industries of corporate finance, financial services or financial markets.
Our academics are passionate and enthusiastic, with significant research contributions in areas such as asset pricing, corporate finance, portfolio theory and risk management. The finance modules that we offer on the degree are recognised by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) as strong preparation for selected CISI qualifications. As an accredited CISI Education Partner, we offer several scholarships every year that will cover the total exam costs for the CISI Level 3 award for Introduction to Investment. The scholarship will also provide you with a CISI Student membership, which offers access to careers events, employability training, on-campus presentations and exam bookings.
The syllabus on the degree also covers a minimum of 70% of the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute (CFA) Program Candidate Body of Knowledge. This means that upon a successful completion of the finance modules that we offer on the degree, you will be well positioned to obtain the CFA designation, which is highly prized and globally recognized. As a member of the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program, we are eligible to award a number of scholarships for the CFA Program each year. The scholarship covers the CFA Program enrolment fee and a substantial portion of the examination costs.

The BSc Business Finance and Management degree has been accepted into the University affiliation program of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute and is recognized by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI). The programme is also a participant of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Higher Education Alignment arrangement, which enables students who are looking to develop a career in the insurance and personal finance profession to undertake the CII qualifications at academic rate with free membership.
Placement Year and Study Abroad
With a year in industry, you will gain valuable work experience and have the chance to build your professional skills and confidence. In today’s competitive job market, relevant work experience is a great advantage. A year in industry won’t only give you first-hand knowledge of the way in which your chosen field operates, but it will also provide an experience that you can build upon. You will then return to UEA in the fourth year to complete your studies.

Alternative Entry Requirements
UEA recognises that some students take a mixture of International Baccalaureate IB or International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme IBCP study rather than the full diploma, taking Higher levels in addition to A levels and/or BTEC qualifications. At UEA we do consider a combination of qualifications for entry, provided a minimum of three qualifications are taken at a higher Level. In addition some degree programmes require specific subjects at a higher level.

Once enrolled onto your course at UEA, your progression and continuation (which may include your eligibility for study abroad, overseas experience, placement or year in industry opportunities) is contingent on meeting the assessment requirements which are relevant to the course on which you are enrolled.
Students for whom english is a foreign language
Applications from students whose first language is not English are welcome. We require evidence of proficiency in English (including writing, speaking, listening and reading):
- IELTS: Year 1 entry: 6.0 overall (minimum 5.5 in all components)

Interviews
Most applicants will not be called for an interview and a decision will be made via UCAS Track. However, for some applicants an interview will be requested. Where an interview is required the Admissions Service will contact you directly to arrange a time.
Gap year
We welcome applications from students who have already taken or intend to take a gap year. We believe that a year between school and university can be of substantial benefit. You are advised to indicate your reason for wishing to defer entry on your UCAS application.

Applications need to be made via the Universities Colleges and Admissions Services (UCAS), using the UCAS Apply option.
UCAS Apply is a secure online application system that allows you to apply for full-time Undergraduate courses at universities and colleges in the United Kingdom. It is made up of different sections that you need to complete. Your application does not have to be completed all at once. The system allows you to leave a section partially completed so you can return to it later and add to or edit any information you have entered. Once your application is complete, it must be sent to UCAS so that they can process it and send it to your chosen universities and colleges.
