Summer Schools are a great way to gain an insight into frontier research through short intensive courses. All Summer Schools are free of charge for UEA registered PGR students and for PGR students from our potential DTP partners.
This course is divided into three parts:
In the first part, non-parametric and parametric tests of experimental treatments will be covered. There will be a focus on the use of power analysis, with the principal objective of finding the required sample size for a planned experiment. The power command in STATA will be used heavily. The Monte Carlo method will also be taught, and applied to situations in which the power command cannot be used.
The second part of the course will be concerned with the problem of estimating preference parameters using fully structural models. This will be done in two contexts: estimation of risk attutude using data on lottery choices; and estimation of social preference parameters using distribution experiments.
The final part of the course considers estimation of finite mixture models, with applications to levels-of-reasoning models and public goods games.
The course will be taking place online via Blackboard Collaborate.
