HISTORY SHORT COURSE

The UEA History Short Course is a programme for any applicant who qualifies for home fees status and is resident in the UK. It will harness your passion for the past and channel it towards academic study. Successful completion of the course will enable you to progress on to the School of History’s BA in History (or MA where relevant).

The UEA History Short Course is a programme for any applicant who qualifies for home fees status and is resident in the UK.

All applications are considered on a case-by-case basis. The course is a 12-week preparatory course for those who wish to progress to undergraduate study in the School of History (or postgraduate where relevant), but for a wide range of reasons, had a gap in their studies.

What will I learn?

The History Short Course focuses on improving key skills and confidence in the following areas:

• How to manage your time effectively
• How to navigate academic texts
• How to take notes in different contexts
• How to make effective use of resources
• How to write academically.

What equipment will I need to join the online course?

You will need access to a computer, which is connected to the internet. For tutorials, it would also be useful to have access to a webcam and a microphone.

What will I get at the end?

Each student will receive an overall mark and a reference from the module organiser, which, provided they achieve the required grade, will help them to continue their studies at UEA.

What facilities will I have access to?

History Short Course students will have full access to the library and its online resources. You will receive a UEA email account and access to our Virtual Learning Environment, Blackboard, where course materials will be available.

How much does it cost?

This course is free to any UK resident.

Are there any hidden costs?

Absolutely none whatsoever. Reading suggestions will be provided, and can be tailored to suit each individual student, but you are under no obligation to buy any extra materials.
