The diversification of traditional care provision and the need to reduce hospital admissions has seen the opening of GP led Walk-In Centres, the 111 service, Minor Injury Units and Urgent Care Centres staffed by a range of qualified healthcare professionals. As such, there is an increasing need for practitioners to develop enhanced skills in clinical assessment and examination.
This module fosters effective skills in decision-making and critical analysis of rapidly changing situations; promotes analysis of clinical judgements through reflective processes such as clinical supervision; and supports the philosophy of safe and high quality care that recognises patients as unique individuals. This module advances your professional development by drawing on the four pillars of advanced practice: management and leadership, education, research and advanced clinical practice. It reinforces the core principle that advanced practice is a level of practice rather than a particular role.
