This module aims to develop in-depth theoretical knowledge and clinical skills to competently recognise patients at risk of deterioration, identify deterioration at an early stage, initiate treatments, and use advanced communication skills to facilitate further care.
Students must be a Registered Health Care Professional who works with acutely ill adult service users and has access to one or more Practice Assessor. The practice assessors will usually be senior members of clinical staff who works closely with the student. However, practice assessor arrangements will vary depending on profession and clinical environment: students are encouraged to contact the module organiser before applying if they have any queries relating to their individual situation. Support from employing organisation is required.
To join the module students will need to demonstrate the ability to study at level 7. This could be demonstrated through previous study at Level 7 and/or achievement of above 55% on a level 6 module and/or achievement of a 2:2 at level 6 BSc
