Assessment for Year 1

During the programme your knowledge is assessed using a broad range of assessment methods (eg coursework, group-projects, and presentations). The choice and number of assessment methods for each module reflects the objectives of the module and the teaching methods employed.

Before each assignment, formative assessments will also take place. These are informal assessments that will not contribute directly to your final marks but they are designed to give you useful feedback when preparing your assignments.

Important Information

Whilst the University will make every effort to offer the modules listed, changes may sometimes be made arising from the annual monitoring, review and update of modules. Where this activity leads to significant (but not minor) changes to programmes and their constituent modules, the University will endeavour to consult with students and others. It is also possible that the University may not be able to offer a module for reasons outside of its control, such as the illness of a member of staff. In some cases optional modules can have limited places available and so you may be asked to make additional module choices in the event you do not gain a place on your first choice. Where this is the case, the University will inform students.

Prepare to be a leader in business with a Master’s designed for the business innovators of tomorrow. Good management means being able to see problems from every perspective, and understanding that there might not always be a single right answer. On this course you’ll study a range of business disciplines and learn to handle such complexities. You will study the science of management from an evidence-based perspective and discover what works in the field of management and why. You’ll learn to critically analyse existing theories, and develop and propose solutions of your own. This is a research-based Master’s so a background in business is essential. You might be coming straight from undergraduate study, or you may have worked in industry for a time since graduating. Many of our students have worked in, or aspire to go on to work in, their family businesses.
